Dear Puerto Rican Figure Skating community,
A year ago, I
assumed the responsibility of
President of the Puerto Rican Figure Skating Federation.
I have participated in the world of figure
skating as a parent of a former skater. In my address
to all of the athletes, coaches and parents, I stand
committed to serve the Federation and represent all
of its constituents, to promote our agenda within the ISU, and to prepare for participation amongst many other
nations in ISU International Events.
The Puerto Rican Figure Skating Federation
is an organization that will
continue to unite many individuals
sharing a common passion for the sport of figure skating.
Yet the organization itself means different things to
each of us. To some it is the Basic Skills program in
Puerto Rico that teaches them to skate; to others a
form of exercise or simply enjoyment;
and yet to others it
will be an opportunity to compete internationally and
a career or a challenging volunteer
commitment. Our Federation will offer programs and support
to its future diverse membership. At the same time we
hope that our membership will, through active participation
in all aspects of the organization, see the benefits
to all of its community in the figure skating arena.
We look forward to the Puerto Rican Figure
Skating Federation benefiting from unprecedented growth
in membership and revenue. This growth will afford us
the ability to expand into new areas and to provide
greater opportunities to our entire membership.
We are making progress in many areas
including in the international arena.
We have been building
a sound relationship with the International Skating Union (ISU).
We have
established great communication with the
United States Figure Skating
Association (USFSA),
ISU and Puerto Rican Olympic Committee (COPUR). We look
forward to developing the credentials that will afford
us the opportunity to become a valued organization within
the International Skating Union (ISU).
Internationally and
at home, the Puerto Rican Figure Skating
Federation is an organization that will continue its
growth on all levels. Further, we continue to enlist and
attract strong corporate support and hope to sign up
several major sponsors in the next several
months.
The Puerto Rican Figure Skating Federation will be a
strong and valued organization on the international
level. We will continue to seek out other potential
Puerto Rican athletes and strive to become a sport that
attracts great attention in the Latino and international
corridor, due to our athletes accomplishments
and
support for young Latinos in a sport to which many would
other wise not have access to.
I firmly believe that the next few years
will be seen as a watershed for the organization to
grow young competitive athletes and for the sport becoming
a familiar activity on the Island of Puerto Rico.
We can all be extremely proud of our
involvement with the Puerto Rican Figure Skating Federation,
and I look forward to the opportunity to continue working
on our missions, goals and objectives with all of
you to make this organization great in the future.
Sincerely,

|
