Dear Puerto Rican Figure Skating community,
Hello, welcome to the Puerto Rican Figure Skating Federation.
My name is Marisol Brilliant.
I am pleased to inform you that I am the coaches'
representative for the Federation. In 2004, the
Federation became a new member of the International
Skating Union (ISU). We are all delighted at the
opportunities that this membership offers us.
The 2005 Skating Season was very fruitful for all Puerto
Rican Skaters. For the first time, Puerto Rico was
represented by a skater at multiple international
competitions. Victoria Muniz, your 2005 Puerto
Rican National Junior Champion, competed on behalf of
the Federation at two Grand Prix events. Her
overall performance was commendable. Victoria will
be representing the Federation at the 2005 Junior World
Championships in Slovenia. This success should
motivate your students to train hard and aspire to
achieve their wildest skating dreams . . . one of them
could be the next champion representing the Federation
in future events.
We are excited by the growth in number of Federation
members. This year's Puerto Rican Nationals in New
Jersey promises to be memorable. We look forward
to all eligible members to participate in this year's
competition. As you know, the ISU has implemented
a new judging system. The Federation will be using
this judging system at this year's Nationals.
Please make sure that you review this system to prepare
your skaters' programs for the competition. The
use of this system worldwide allows us to compare our
own skaters and their respective abilities and talents
with those of other countries.
I am excited to meet you in March, 2006 to answer any
questions you may have. If you have questions
before that date, you may contact me at:
marisolbrilliant@sbcglobal.net.
Good luck to all of you and your skaters!

Sincerely,
Marisol Brilliant
