The
National Championships were successfully completed on
Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Pond in Newark, DE.
Senior Ladies
Victoria Muniz came back after last year's absence from
the Nationals to win her 4th Puerto Rican Ladies title
with 102.79 points. Victoria had a slow start in
her Short Program but came back with a strong Free Skate
to overtake the lead.
Megan
Williams-Stewart joined the Federation this year
following years of success in the USA Nationals.
Megan has also represented the USA internationally at
least three times. Megan had the best Short Program
score but fell to second place overall after the Free
Skate with a combined score of 100.84 points.
Diana Reina, last year's
Junior Champion, moved up to Senior Ladies. After
a slow start in her Short Program, Diana had her best
Free Skate score with two Double Axels. Diana was
only off the 2nd place positions by 3 points or less for
both the Short Program and Free Skate but ended up 14
points behind with a total of 86.45 points.
